For the Mocha: (per drink)

1/2 cup milk

1 tablespoon unsweetened Dutch process cocoa

1/2 cup strongly brewed Holiday Blend coffee

2-3 tablespoons Vanilla Peppermint Syrup

Whipped cream, for garnish

Chocolate syrup, for garnish

Candy canes, crushed peppermint, or sprinkles, for garnish

  1. To make the vanilla peppermint syrup, place the water and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a low simmer until the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly. Stir in the vanilla and peppermint extract.
  3. Store the simple syrup in a clean jar. It will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
  4. To make the mocha, place the milk, cocoa powder, and coffee in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until it is bubbling around the edges and hot throughout, about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the vanilla peppermint syrup in a large mug. Pour the hot coffee mixture in the mug. Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and candy as desired.
  6. Enjoy!
