This custom blended bold roast is the newest addition to our lineup of high quality coffees. Inspired by local author Mary Alice Monroe’s beloved Beach House Series, this limited edition blend is available online and at select Harris Teeter stores.
INSPIRATION FOR BEACH HOUSE BLEND
Mary Alice Monroe is known for her bestselling novels set in the Charleston area. But Charleston Coffee Roaster’s owner, Lowell Grosse, met Mary Alice through their mutual love of the local loggerhead turtle population, as they are both are active supporters of local conservation efforts. Mary Alice has been a loyal Charleston Coffee Roasters customer for years, enjoying our dark roast blends at home.
As Mary Alice and Lowell started brainstorming about a collaboration, the idea of a custom blend of coffee emerged. Lowell invited Mary Alice to the roasting facility to taste five different coffees, specially blended to reflect her taste in robust, bold roasts.
ABOUT BEACH HOUSE BLEND
After a fun afternoon in the tasting room, Mary Alice made her choice which ultimately became the Beach House Blend. Colombian French, Sumatra, and Mexican beans combine to make this dark, rich roast a delightfully smooth coffee. And since they are both passionate about sea turtle conservation, 10% of the proceeds from our newest blend will help sustain the work of the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Care Center.
