Coffee Profile
Tanzanian Peaberry: These beans have intensely concentrated orange and lemon citrus notes with a lighter body than their larger normal cousins. Looking south across the border of Kenya into Tanzania, you see two extinct volcanoes, Mount Kilimanjaro and the smaller Mount Meru. Around these mountains there is a micro- climate that results in superb fertile lands full of banana groves and coffee plantations. It is in these rich soils that our featured Tanzanian peaberry is grown. Peaberry is the term for a coffee berry that produces a single, small oval bean instead of the more typical pair of larger, flat-sided beans. This only happens in 3-5% of Arabica coffee production. Enjoy the big taste that these small beans produce.
Organic Colombian: Our single origin Colombian comes from the Cundinamarca region. This coffee is grown at altitudes of over 5000 feet. From the rich soils, emerges a bold smooth well-rounded coffee, you’re sure to enjoy.
Organic Sumatra: Full, rich and invitingly smooth with hints of chocolate makes this one of our most popular coffees. Sumatran beans are typically dark-roasted to highlight their full bodies and low acidity. These unique characteristics are a result of wet-hulling, the most common processing method used by Sumatran farmers. Since the climate in this Indonesian island is so moist, farmers partially dry the beans on site and then twice more after leaving the farm, thus producing a rich, complex flavor and aroma. Given its bold flavor, our Organic Sumatra pairs particularly well with rich and creamy foods. The hints of chocolate will make you want to leave out the milk and sugar. New to Dark Roasts? This is a great one to try; you’ll no doubt enjoy the full flavor and smooth finish even when the coffee has cooled slightly or over ice
