St.Michaels ChurchCharleston deserves a coffee that reflects its originality

In fall of 2005, Charleston Coffee Roasters was founded on what we consider to be a simple premise: a city like Charleston, South Carolina deserves a coffee that reflects its originality, concern for the environment and attention to quality.  We’ve worked hard to craft coffees that honor Charleston’s heritage - coffees that are timeless and classic in their taste.

The response has been overwhelming. By 2007 we had outgrown our Mt. Pleasant location, and this past spring moved into a wonderful new roasting facility on Huger Street. We don't have a coffee bar but we welcome customers to stop by and pick up a bag of our coffee which has received rave reviews in Charleston Magazine, Edible Lowcountry and Charleston City Paper.

Our logo - saving the loggerhead turtle

Our logo utilizes a coffee bean that resembles the loggerhead turtle which nests each summer along the beaches of South Carolina. We hope this logo will remind us all of the global importance of sustainability and concern for our natural environment. Our aim is to develop a company that follows sustainable practices.

As a company, we adhere to the philosophy that the compassionate treatment of people and the environment inevitably yields higher quality results. Whenever possible, we seek growers and importers that are known to be both environmentally and socially responsible. It is almost always the case that these individuals produce and offer the best quality.

" Late one summer night, I watched a turtle nest "boil" and hundreds of hatchlings scramble for the sea under a full moon and Mary Pringle's watchful eye. Since that magical night, I have been totally committed to protecting our natural environment.

"Having the coffee bean turtle as our logo allows us to play a small role in helping to protect the loggerhead turtle ."
